Westerfield Drive
Project Overview
Apart of the Victorian Government Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning’s Pocket Park Program, the development of Westerfield Drive Reserve came to life. This program aims to create new parks and revitalize existing local parks in built up urban areas in Metropolitan Melbourne. Yellowstone Landscaping was allocated to complete Westerfield Drive Reserve for City Of Monash.
Award Winning
Westerfield Drive Reserve received an award from Parks And Leisure Australia through the VIC/TAS 2023 Awards of Excellence Playspace category.
This award is given to a playspace under the value of $500,000 that involves a range of stakeholders, contributes to the creation of a sense of “place” for its local community and exhibits landscape and/or structural design innovation that delights and aids childhood development.
Features
Westerfield Drive Reserve features musical instruments such as a 8-key Marimba, sound bouncers and a sensory trail. Play elements include a trampoline, basket-swing, and a multi play-unit with shop front and slide. Nature play elements include water pump and log channel, bamboo decorative poles and an insect hotel.
Creative Touch
This playspace also features an exciting new mural co-designed by artist Hayden Dewar and First Nations artist, Ashleigh Pugh. This creative edit provides the park with a street-nature aesthetic.
