Mentone Life Saving Club Playground
Project Overview
As part of the Bay Trail, Mentone Life Saving Club and Precinct redevelopment project, Yellowstone Landscaping upgraded the Mentone Life Saving Club Playground for City of Kingston. For this project, Yellowstone Landscaping paid careful attention to significant vegetation, Heritage, and Indigenous artefact. Collaborating closely with the Bunurong Land Council to ensure that any artifacts found were handled according to proper procedures.
The renewed play space is amongst the vibrant Mentone Beach, making for a perfect family day out. The upgraded space features new amenities such as seats with back and arm rests, picnic setting, bicycle hoops, and a drinking fountain with dog bowl. The existing park amenities such as the BBQ and bins were reused and relocated within the space. There has also been an improvement in the accessible path network connection to the Bay Trial and picnic area. A fence was installed around the site, complete with gates for pedestrian safety.
The redesigned playground area is crafted to provide an inclusive play environment, accessible to everyone. The play equipment features a ‘driftwood shack’ combination unit, a spinner, a swing, and a timber play structure for nature play. Additionally, the area has been enhanced with more trees and raised garden beds filled with shrubs, ground covers, and grasses. The overall upgrade of the Mentone Life Saving Club and Precinct redevelopment project is a major advancement and improvement to the community, which will deliver enduring benefits for years to come.
