Elsternwick Park South Playground
Project Overview
Bayside City Council engaged Yellowstone Landscaping to upgrade the Elsternwick Park South Playground, due to the noncompliance of the existing play items.
This project involved the installation of nature play elements including timber balancing logs, teepee structures and a water play unit with a dry riverbed. Additional play elements include basket swing, toddler swing, an eagles lair, and a seesaw. A new accessible fort structure with accessible ramp access on each side and log steppers was constructed. Another feature includes a rubber mound installation with a tunnel amongst bamboo planters.
Imaginative play is a key theme to this space, with the combination of musical instruments, musical pipes, a spiral game table, and speaking tubes. Children will be able to let out their musical talents.
The upgraded playspace features a new waterpave permeable concrete path, a stabilised granitic path and a colored asphalt path. Park accessibility will be improved with a pole gateway feature at the entrance.
Additional park amenities include the installation of new shade shelter over the existing picnic settings, a drinking fountain and extra bench seats. Soft-landscaping features additional garden bed planting, logs and rockwork. A strong focus throughout the project was on retaining and protecting existing trees on site, while also planting additional trees to enhance the space.
