Carlson Reserve
Project Overview
Carlson Reserve was a significant project that focused on transforming the prior space into an all-age inclusive upgraded Playspace. The Carlson Reserve Playspace establishment was stage 1 of 3 in creating the reserve into a key area for the local community.
Features
The finalised construction features specific elements to cater for all ages. The centrally placed play unit gives users the height to see the surrounding reserve. Down at ground level – the rope, totem and balance course provide children with the opportunity to increase their agility and strength. The children’s ‘Shop counter’ serves up the regular cocktail of dirt and soft fall for the locals. If adults feel like they need to get some exercise in, the fitness equipment area will be sure to get the blood pumping.
Overall Improvements
The play space is nicely encircled with grass and garden beds, alongside picnic settings for the barbeque area equipped with new shade sails.
Drainage and water concerns were also addressed during construction to remove the past problem of the car park flooding and garden beds going underwater.
Carlson Reserve was a project that involved an array of improvements such as accessibility and environmental benefits. New access paths and surfaces were installed.
