Carrington Park
Project Overview
The new and improved Carrington Park playspace brings a modern touch to the existing reserve within the City of Knox.
Initially, the plan involved relocating the existing playground to a more central area on the reserve. This shift enhanced the communal use of the playspace. With stand-out recreation equipment such as a 9-meter play tower and a boulder climbing unit, endless play for kids is bound to occur.
Enhancing the reserves amenities was important to blend into the project. Adding a large shelter with seating welcomes families to sit during community sport and whilst children play.
Community Feel
Terracotta tiles handcrafted by a local primary school are a distinctive feature of this playspace. Incorporating the tiles into the landscaping design adds a community feel to the project. Significant planting amongst the playspace improved the prior open grass area into an array of local indigenous plants.
Completion Of Project
Yellowstone Landscaping worked closely with council representatives and The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) which helped fund the overall project. This meant working alongside with timeframes and reporting to relevant stake holders was crucial.
With the completion of the project, an official park opening was held by Mayor Cr Susan Laukens and Dr Tien Kieu, State Member for South Eastern Metropolitan Region. Along with the opening, an Acknowledgement of Country ceremony was performed by a local primary school student, who is a Wadiwadi and Wembawemba boy.
